Secretary Chustz honors La. student art calendar winners

Friday, June 14, 2013

“This Governor’s Mansion could be yours one day” was the sentiment of the day, in the words of La. Department of Natural Resources Secretary Stephen Chustz as he congratulated the young boys and girls selected as winners of the 2014 La. Arts and Language Arts Children’s Calendar, sponsored by the Louisiana Environmental Education Commission and Alcoa Foundation. Secretary Chustz conveyed his message of praise and accomplishment to the student winners, their parents and teachers, and those gathered today at the Governor’s Mansion to celebrate and showcase the projects chosen as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place out of 792 entries in the annual contest.

The students were honored at the awards reception and received a certificate and $200, $100, and $75 prizes. The 2014 calendar year theme is “Louisiana’s Natural Resources: What’s Important to You?”

Secretary Chustz encouraged the students to keep pursuing excellence. “From the wonderful work I see here, there is no doubt of the pride and talent you have, and of the great stewardship you will continue to bring to our state and environment.”
