Rebuild Louisiana
Rebuild Louisiana was a statewide effort to renovate buildings, improve energy efficiency, and reduce energy waste. Rebuild Louisiana partners make communities stronger by stimulating economic growth, creating jobs, saving money, and improving the environment.

The Energy Fund
The Energy Fund was a public-private cooperative endeavor that provides publicly funded entities the low-cost financing necessary to implement energy conservation strategies.

Past Industrial Energy Programs

Rural Water Energy Conservation Program
The Rural Water Energy Conservation Program was a partnership with the Louisiana Rural Water Association to provide technical assistance to municipal and rural waste water systems throughout the state of Louisiana in the areas of reduction of leakage in water systems and rain water infiltration into waste water systems.

Partnerships between industry, government and supporting laboratories and institutions to accelerate technology research, development and deployment

The Home Energy Rating
Evaluation and rating of energy efficiency of homes

Energy Efficient Financing

Energy Efficient Mortgages
Energy Efficient Mortgages allow borrowers to qualify for higher loan amounts to cover the cost of energy efficiency improvements that are verified through a home energy rating.

Home Energy Loan Program (HELP)
Through the HELP program, a homeowner can obtain a five year loan to improve the energy efficiency of their existing home.

Economic Stimulus

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
The Louisiana Department of Energy and Natural Resources received direct allocations of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds for the State Energy Program; the State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program; the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program; the Energy Assurance Program; and the Save Energy Now Program.

Residential Programs

Sustainable Planning (VIDEO)
DENR brought design professionals together in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to put together a Sustainable Rebuilding Plan for the City of New Orleans

Parade of Homes (VIDEO)
DENR worked closely with the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans to develop a list of cost effective improvements best suited for incorporating into the rebuilding of historic homes in the New Orleans area after Hurricane Katrina.

Green-Space showcased articles on topics concerning green building and the green building industry.

Other Programs

The Sol of New Orleans: Solar Powered Car
This project allowed students at the University of New Orleans the opportunity to design, build, test, and race a solar-powered car as part of the nationwide investigation on the use of solar power as an alternative to internal combustion engine automobiles, and to disseminate the results of the investigation.

Trawl Door Efficiency
This program was designed to replace the hydrodynamically inefficient aluminum and wooden trawl doors on the shrimpers' nets with more efficient designs.
