EDUCATION

The Louisiana Office of Conservation is committed to assisting teachers with the development and implementation of groundwater education initiatives in the classroom. In keeping with the focus of the "Water-Wise in BR" public awareness campaign, agency staff worked with experienced educators and curriculum writers to craft three separate lesson plans tied to scientific learning opportunities here in East Baton Rouge Parish. Each curriculum is adaptable and flexible enough to meet the specific needs for physical, earth, and environmental science classrooms. We know, however, that interested teachers at all levels will find these lesson plans beneficial. Our belief is that nothing resonates with students more than "science in your own backyard," and here in Baton Rouge, the subject of groundwater is both current and relevant. At the very least, perhaps these will inspire you to adapt or create your own unique plans. For additional information or to develop training workshops, contact: matthew.reonas@la.gov,

We look forward to hearing from you!
