Atchafalaya Basin Bulletin

Greetings from DNR Secretary Scott Angelle and the Department of Natural Resources Atchafalaya Basin Program

LATEST NEWS AND EVENTS:

Saturday March 24, 2012, marked the Lower St. Martin Recreation District's first baseball tournament at their facility, which was partly funded by the ABP. Click here to view photos.

Also on this date was the dedication ceremony of the Veteran's Park Memorial Plaza in Pierre Part, LA. The plaza, flagpoles, and monument were the product of a local fundraising effort to honor veterans at the park that is named for them. The sale of engraved memorial bricks raised the money for this project. The park, which includes three ball fields, two tennis courts, a walking path, a children's playground and a covered concession/picnic area was partly funded by the ABP and a special local millage approved by the residents of Assumption Parish. Pierre Part is very proud of this park that offers outdoor activities to all its residents, from small children to senior citizens. Click here to view photos.
