LATEST NEWS AND EVENTS:
Upcoming events: The 8th Annual Step Outside Day is scheduled for Saturday May 12th from 9:00 am-3:00 pm at the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area Headquarters. Click here to learn more.
On May 1, 2012, Governor Bobby Jindal sent a letter to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to request that the Corps increase the water flow through the Old River Control Structure into the Atchafalaya Basin. The Governor states that below-normal water levels in the Atchafalaya Basin have resulted in adverse effects on water quality and wild crawfish harvests, and that an increase in flow into the Atchafalaya Basin could be achieved without causing adverse effects on navigation or either the Mississippi or Atchafalaya Basin systems.
