Atchafalaya Basin Program Turns 20
On April 23, 2018 the Atchafalaya Basin Program will be 20 years old! Over the years, the ABP has successfully completed dozens of projects, many through partnerships with local governments. It began in 1998 when the Louisiana Legislature established the program within the Department of Natural Resources to serve as the authority on behalf of the state to coordinate state and local activities in the Atchafalaya Basin. The ABP strives, through its annual plan process, to solve problems identified by members of the public and to make the Atchafalaya Basin more accessible and resilient for all who enjoy its wonders.
With your support, we hope that the program will continue to make positive changes in the Atchafalaya Basin for years to come.
