Coastal Zone Boundary Study Report has been revised based on comments received from the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA), outreach meeting attendees, and other sources. The updated report is ready to be submitted to the CPRA for its final acceptance at an upcoming meeting. Following CPRA acceptance, changes to the coastal zone boundary would require legislative approval during the 2011 session and then must be approved by the federal government (NOAA) prior to formally being incorporated into the Louisiana Coastal Resources Program.

OCM has authorized use of General Permit 24 for the installation, maintenance, and/or removal of up to 1,000 linear feet of concrete mats and other hard-structure or engineered alternatives for pipeline protection

Act 955 of 2010 was passed by Louisiana Legislature for Surface Water Management which directed the Department of Energy and Natural Resources to provide in the management, preservation, conservation, and protection of the state’s water resources and enter into cooperative agreements with water users for the withdrawal of running surface water from state-owned water bodies.

OCM presents the results of the report reviewing the inland boundary of the coastal zone to the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) in Baton Rouge, LA. CPRA will take the report under consideration and receive comments from interested parties and may make final recommendation at the October or November meeting. Following CPRA action on the report, changes to the coastal zone boundary would require legislative approval during the 2011 session and then must be approved by the federal government (NOAA) prior to formally being incorporated into the Louisiana Coastal Resources Program.
