On September 20, 2023, Commissioner Monique M. Edwards of the Louisiana Office of Conservation issued an emergency declaration at the Sulphur Mines salt dome near the town of Sulphur, Louisiana. Shortly after, Governor John Bel Edwards issued an emergency proclamation. This page is intended to provide concerned citizens and interested parties with information regarding the ongoing investigation at the Sulphur Mines salt dome.
