FEDERAL GRANTS BOOST STATE'S ABILITY TO BECOME ENERGY EFFICIENT (News)
The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Technology Assessment Division, Energy Section has been awarded three competitive grants totaling $345,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE). The DNR submitted proposals and competed for these limited federal funds along with other state agencies from across the country. These new grants will be used by the Energy Section to continue promoting and fostering energy efficiency in the state. After the USDOE evaluated and selected the best proposals, DNR was awarded a Rebuilding Louisiana grant, Industries of the Future grant, and a Model Energy Code grant.

Angelle Speaks to Congress on Energy Topics (News)
State Department of Natural Resources Secretary Scott Angelle testified before members of the United States Congress yesterday on energy issues, primarily on the future of alternate energy resources in America and oil and gas exploration and production from the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). This is the second time this year that Louisiana has been represented before members of the U.S. Energy and Natural Resources Committee where a national energy policy is expected to be formulated.

DNR Secretary Jack Caldwell and the department's key project developers held a special demonstration at DNR headquarters to show and explain how the well data is accessible to the public on the Internet.
