La. Mineral Lease Sale for February brings $3 million

BATON ROUGE – The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge. The Board collected more than $3 million in bonuses in the February lease sale, making the total collected for FY 11-12 more than $21.7 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 34 leases covering more than 6,603 acres, out of 43 nominated tracts covering more than 69,704 acres.
The Board sold leases in DeSoto, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lafourche, LaSalle, Natchitoches, St. Charles, St. Mary, Tangipahoa, and Terrebonne parishes. Of the 34 tracts awarded, 5 were in north Louisiana and 29 were located in the southern parishes.
