Mineral and Energy Board Lease Sale for March brings $1 million

BATON ROUGE – The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday, March 14th in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge. The Board collected more than $1 million in bonuses in the March lease sale, making the total collected for FY 11-12 more than $23 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 27 leases covering more than 3,501 acres, out of 54 nominated tracts covering more than 35,786 acres.
The Board sold leases in Avoyelles, Bossier, Claiborne, Lafourche, LaSalle, Plaquemines, Terrebonne, Union and West Feliciana parishes. Of the 27 tracts awarded, 19 were in north Louisiana and 8 were located in the southern parishes.
