Mineral and Energy Board Reports on April Lease Sale

BATON ROUGE- The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday, April 11th in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge. The Board collected more than $834,086. in bonuses in the April lease sale, making the total collected for FY 11-12 more than $23.8 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 12 leases covering more than 2,526 acres, out of 17 nominated tracts covering more than 10,428 acres.
The Board sold leases in Calcasieu, Cameron, Plaquemines, St. Mary, and Vernon parishes. Of the 12 leases awarded, 1 was in north Louisiana and 11 were located in the southern parishes.
