Mineral Board Lease Sale Brings $7.4 million in May
BATON ROUGE- The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday, May 9th in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge. The Board collected more than $7.4 million in bonuses in the May lease sale, making the total collected for FY 11-12 more than $31.2 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 43 leases covering more than 14,627 acres, out of 116 nominated tracts covering more than 140,881 acres. Records show that this month’s collection is the highest since the start of the fiscal year which will end June 30, 2012.
The Board sold leases in Acadia, Assumption, Bossier, Caddo, Cameron, Iberia, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lafourche, LaSalle, Plaquemines, Rapides, St. Charles, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Terrebonne parishes. Of the 43 leases awarded, 4 were in north Louisiana and 39 were located in the southern parishes.
