Friday, April 15, 2005

The new Louisiana Energy Facts Annual is now available from the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and is currently being mailed to subscribers and others throughout the state.

The latest energy statistics for 2004 are included in this report. News briefs on topics of interest to the industry and government agencies that summarize oil and gas production data, tax revenue information, and historical rig count statistics are also available in the annual prepared by the department's Technology Assessment Division.

A series of articles written by the division’s economist, entitled America’s WETLANDS: Energy Corridor to the Nation, has also been reprinted and included in the facts annual. These articles point out the significant role Louisiana plays in supplying energy to the rest of the country through its intricate pipeline system and infrastructure. According to the report, Louisiana provides 34 percent of the nation’s natural gas supply and over 30 percent of the nation’s crude oil supply.

Copies of the Louisiana Energy Facts Annual are available from DNR at no charge. For copies, contact the Technology Assessment office at (225) 342-1270.
