Office of Mineral Resources
About the Agency Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR)

DNR is one of twenty departments under the executive branch of state government. The executive officer of DNR is the Secretary. There are three primary offices of the department; Office of Coastal Restoration and Management, Office of Conservation, and Office of Mineral Resources.
Louisiana’s Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco took office on January 12, 2004. Elected for a four-year term, she is one of eight females in the United States to hold the office. Gov. Blanco exercises control over state government offices and names the heads (i.e. Cabinet Secretaries) of the executive departments, boards and commissions. ( Note: The State Mineral Board members are appointed by the Governor but operate under the DNR Office of Mineral Resources.)
On January 30th, Governor Blanco named Scott Angelle of Breaux Bridge to head the department. Angelle is the St. Martin Parish president and is a former petroleum industry executive.
