Tuesday, September 30, 2003

A reception honoring Governor M. J. "Mike" Foster and hosted by LSU System President Dr. William Jenkins and Chancellor Dr. Mark Emmert will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Tiger Stadium, Tiger Den Suites, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Members of the news media are invited to attend this social event saluting the America's Wetland campaign and Governor Foster for his success in making Louisiana's land loss issue a state and national priority.

On Friday, October 3, 2003, the America's Wetland Eco-Eco Summit (Impact of Ecology on the Economy) will be held at LSU's Cox Communication Academic Center hosted by Governor Foster. The new center is now the largest student auditorium on campus, formerly the old Gym-Armory.
The Eco-Eco summit is supported by over 20 civic, industry, and environmental organizations across the state. Exxon Mobil is serving as the prime sponsor.

The summit begins at 10 a.m. with an opening session featuring a keynote address by Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Secretary Jack Caldwell on the importance of the state's role as the "Energy Corridor for a Nation". The closing session starts at 2:30 p. m. with several panelists speaking on the economics associated with wetland restoration and sustainability.
