Board Announces Jump in March Mineral Lease Sale
Baton Rouge—The State Mineral Board conducted a Lease Sale March 13, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mineral Board Hearing Room located in the LaSalle Office Building in the Capitol Complex in downtown Baton Rouge. Below are the preliminary results of the Lease Sale and 2001-2002 Fiscal Year totals.
This month's lease sale jumped dramatically over totals from last month, reported Mineral Board Secretary Gus Rodemacher. "Looking ahead at coming months, we are expecting continued fluctuation in the number of tracts nominated and income from the sales, Rodemacher said. There are 45 tracts nominated in April, 58 tracts in May, and 97 tracts in June.
This month's lease sale was $5.9 million.
