COASTAL EXHIBIT PORTRAYS SUCCESSFUL EFFORTS TOWARD RESTORATION

Friday, December 20, 1996

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) is proud to announce the completion of a new coastal restoration exhibit located in the department's lobby. The exhibit highlights various coastal restoration techniques, wetland functions and values, and other related Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) project information. The exhibit captures and features successful projects with outstanding photography and satellite imagery.

The primary attraction of the display is a 1: 100,000 scale satellite image showing all of the approved CWPPRA and completed state coastal restoration project locations. Other highlights complementing this image include photographs of wetland projects and structures; a display of engineering measures used in restoring the coast; and a list of completed and approved projects in Louisiana.

The exhibit components were created and assembled through collaborative efforts of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources/Coastal Restoration Division, the U.S. Geological Survey/National Wetlands Research Center/Baton Rouge Project Office, and the Louisiana Geological Survey.

The new exhibit is located within the State Land and Natural Resources Building, 625 North Fourth Street, on the west side of the building facing the Mississippi River. Visitors to the building may view the display Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m - 4:30 p.m.
