Dr. Kumar has 30 years of professional state service and is currently Director of the Geological Oil and Gas Division, Office of Conservation.

During the AIPG meeting, he spoke on the topic, “How to Strengthen the CPG Title” and he will lead the effort to structure policy in the coming years for the professional organization. In addition, Dr. Kumar was commended for presenting a report while in Lexington last month on Hurricane Katrina’s affects on the oil and gas industry in the state.

AIPG is recognized as one of the premier professional geological associations in the world. The organization promotes geology as a profession, certifies the competence and ethical conduct of geological scientists, and promotes public service. In the past years, Kumar received two additional AIPG Presidential Certificate of Merit and the Martin Van Couvering Memorial Award for professional excellence and leadership.
