DNR officials join in Energy and National Rebuild America Conference

On Monday, July 29th, officials of the state Department of Natural Resources' Technology Assessment Division and Energy Section will participate in the 2002 State Energy Program/Rebuild America National Conference in New Orleans.
DNR Secretary Jack Caldwell will give the official welcome along with New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin's representative Renee Gill Pratt. Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy David Garman of Washington, DC will also address the group on opening day, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
The conference is expected to draw over 500 attendees that will study and discuss a variety of energy topics and award-winning programs such as Energy Star Homes and Clean Cities.
A special session will highlight DNR's new and innovative Energy Fund which incorporates networking strategies with various financial institutions, state agencies, municipalities and school boards for promoting energy-efficiency programs.
La. State Senator Melvin "Kip" Holden is also scheduled to speak at Thursday's opening session.
