DNR presents awards for energy conservation
The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Technology Assessment Division officials recently recognized several public entities and private businesses for their leadership in energy conservation in the state. According to DNR Energy Fund program manager Louis McArthur, stewardship award recipients and others were honored for their efforts in achieving energy and water conservation while saving money and protecting the environment. “The department is proud to partner with these entities that are committed to long-term conservation goals,” McArthur said. The Stewardship Award recipients were Sabine Parish School System, St. Helena Parish School System, Rapides Parish School System, Assumption Parish School System, East Carroll Parish School System, Plaquemine Parish School System, St. John the Baptist Parish School System, Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana Tech University, Louisiana State University, New Iberia Housing Authority and the City of Shreveport. DNR staff presented two other categories of awards including the “BTU” Smack-downand the “Above and Beyond” awards which honored private partners’ contributions to the Energy Fund program. “BTU” awards were presented to the following companies: Siemens Building Technology, Inc., Johnson Controls, Inc., TAC Americas Inc, Bernhard Mechanical, Inc, Carrier Commercial. Services and Water & Energy Savings Corporation. Louisiana Public Facilities Authority, Foley & Judell, L.L.P. and Stephens, Inc. were recognized with “Above and Beyond” awards. DNR Executive Counsel Monique M. Edwards presented the awards during a ceremony held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans, on July 28, 2005.
