DNR reports latest nominations of state land for leasing program for October

BATON ROUGE- The state Mineral and Energy Board has received nominations for its monthly Mineral Lease Sale to be held October 14, 2015. The deadline for receipt of nominations for the October 2015 mineral lease sale was July 27, 2015.
The Board’s administrative unit, the Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Mineral Resources, reported today that 40 nominations containing approximately 40,000 acres were received. The nominations covered the parishes of Lafourche, Ouachita, Plaquemines, St. Helena, St. Mary, Tangipahoa, and Terrebonne. These preliminary figures are part of the number of tracts and tracts acreage that will be advertised for leasing.
The total acreage of state land and water bottoms available to prospective bidders wanting to acquire a state mineral lease is approximately six million acres. In July, there were 4,575 acres released back to state control. Companies and bidders are being notified that the next date to submit bids for the August 12th lease sale held by the Board will be at noon on August 11th.
Prospective bidders can easily search for available acreage in the agency’s database, SONRIS GIS and at www.dnr.louisiana.gov/onlinenomproc

The next deadline for the Office of Mineral Resources to receive nominations will be August 24th for the month of November lease sale.
