DNR reports latest nominations of state land for leasing program for September

BATON ROUGE - The state Mineral and Energy Board has received nominations for its monthly Mineral Lease Sale to be held September 9, 2015.  The deadline for receipt of nominations for the September 2015 mineral lease sale was June 22, 2015.

The Board’s administrative unit, the Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Mineral Resources, reported today that 59 nominations containing approximately 92,000 acres were received. The nominations covered the parishes of Acadia, Allen, Cameron, Iberia, Lafourche, DeSoto, St. Mary, and Terrebonne. These preliminary figures are part of the number of tracts and tracts acreage that will be advertised for leasing.

The total acreage of state land and water bottoms available to prospective bidders wanting to acquire a state mineral lease is approximately six million acres. In June, there were 5,135 acres released back to state control. Companies and bidders are being notified that the next date to submit bids for the July 8^th lease sale held by the Board will be at noon on July 7^th.

Prospective bidders can easily search for available acreage in the agency’s database, SONRIS GIS and at www.dnr.louisiana.gov/onlinenomproc

The next deadline for the Office of Mineral Resources to receive nominations will be July 27^th for the month of October lease sale.
