DNR reports nomination of state land for leasing program under authority of Mineral and Energy Board

BATON ROUGE-The state Mineral and Energy Board has received nominations for its monthly Mineral Lease Sale to be held March 11, 2015. The deadline for receipt of nominations for the March 2015 mineral lease sale was December 22, 2014.

The Board’s administrative unit, the Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Mineral Resources, reported today that 25 nominations containing approximately 26,000 acres were received. The parishes included Plaquemines, St. Bernard, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Lincoln, Bienville, Union, Ouachita, Catahoula and Concordia. 

These are preliminary figures leading up to the preparation of the actual number of tracts and tracts acreage that will be advertised for leasing.
