DNR reports on latest nominations of state land for mineral leasing program

BATON ROUGE- The state Mineral and Energy Board has received nominations for its monthly Mineral Lease Sale to be held December 9, 2015.  The deadline for receipt of nominations for the December  2015 mineral lease sale was September 28, 2015.

 

The Board’s administrative unit, the Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Mineral Resources, reported today that 56 nominations containing approximately 82,821 acres were received. The nominations covered the parishes of Cameron, Lafourche, St. Mary, and Terrebonne.  These preliminary figures are part of the number of tracts and tracts acreage that will be advertised for leasing.

 

The total acreage of state land and water bottoms available to prospective bidders wanting to acquire a state mineral lease is approximately six million acres. In September, there were 3,407 acres released back to state control. Companies and bidders are being notified that the next date to submit bids for the October 14th lease sale held by the Board will be at noon on October 13th.

 

Prospective bidders can easily search for available acreage in the agency’s database, SONRIS GIS and at www.dnr.louisiana.gov/onlinenomproc

The next deadline for the Office of Mineral Resources to receive nominations will be October 26th  for the month of January 2016 lease sale.
