DNR reports on nomination of state land for leasing program for July

BATON ROUGE- The state Mineral and Energy Board has received nominations for its monthly Mineral Lease Sale to be held July 8, 2015.  The deadline for receipt of nominations for the July 2015 mineral lease sale was April 27, 2015.

The Board’s administrative unit, the Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Mineral Resources, reported today that two nominations containing approximately 2,071 acres were received. The nominations covered land in the parishes of Allen, Evangeline, and Lafourche.

These are preliminary figures leading up to the preparation of the actual number of tracts and tracts acreage that will be advertised for leasing.

The total acreage of state land and water bottoms available to prospective bidders wanting to acquire a state mineral lease is approximately 6 million acres. In April, there were 3,996 acres released back to state control. Companies and bidders are being notified that the next date to submit bids for the May 13^th  lease sale held by the Board will be at noon on May 12^th.

The next deadline for the Office of Mineral Resources to receive nominations will be May 26^th for the month of August lease sale.
