DNR reports on nominations of state land for leasing program for August

BATON ROUGE- The state Mineral and Energy Board has received nominations for its monthly Mineral Lease Sale to be held August 12, 2015.  The deadline for receipt of nominations for the August 2015 mineral lease sale was May 26, 2015.

The Board’s administrative unit, the Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Mineral Resources, reported today that 21 nominations containing approximately 1,569 acres were received. The nominations covered land in the parishes of Cameron, Catahoula, Concordia, Lincoln, Pointe Coupee, and Ouachita.

These are preliminary figures leading up to the preparation of the actual number of tracts and tracts acreage that will be advertised for leasing.

The total acreage of state land and water bottoms available to prospective bidders wanting to acquire a state mineral lease is approximately six million acres. In May, there were 6,912 acres released back to state control. Companies and bidders are being notified that the next date to submit bids for the June 10^th  lease sale held by the Board will be at noon on June 9^th .

The next deadline for the Office of Mineral Resources to receive nominations will be June 22^nd  for the month of September lease sale.
