DNR Secretary Angelle, Coastal Energy Leaders Discuss Offshore Energy Resources and Development
BATON ROUGE – On Monday, DNR Secretary Scott Angelle joined the nation’s top coastal energy leaders in Houston to discuss issues and solutions for future development of offshore energy resources in a post-Macondo world.
The panel titled “Offshore Energy Development through a Post-Spill Reality” was hosted by the Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) at its 2011 Offshore Technology Conference.
“America’s Coastal States produce more than 40% of the nation’s economic output,” explained Angelle. “It is crucial that the energy policy of our coastal states be the type of public policy that allows safe expansion and provides incentives.”
“I believe that by working together and sharing ideas as we did on Monday, the coastal states will play a very important role in the domestic energy independence of America,” he added.
In addition to Angelle, the panelists included
Haley Barbour, Governor of the State of Mississippi
Jerry Patterson, Commissioner of Texas General Land Commission
Doug Domenech, Secretary of the Virginia Department of Natural Resources
Dan Sullivan, Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources
CEA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, comprised of more than 160 affiliate members, including energy consumers and producers, and tens of thousands of consumer advocates, that supports the thoughtful utilization of energy resources to help ensure improved domestic and global energy security, stable prices for consumers and balanced energy policy for America.
