DNR Welcomes Korean Energy Company to State

Wednesday, November 9, 2005

The Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Office of Conservation has issued two drilling permits in Iberia parish for exploration and production to SK E&P Corp., headquartered in Seoul, Korea.  DNR Secretary Scott Angelle said this particular drilling marks a page in oil and gas history for Louisiana, since it is the company’s first operating venture in the United States. SK Corp. specializes in energy and chemicals and is active in 19 countries.

Commissioner Jim Welsh visited with SK E&P’s General Manager D.S. Choi (Houston office) in October at the well site to discuss its operations.
