Edwards receives presidential award from bar association

Monique M. Edwards, executive counsel at the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), has been awarded the National Bar Association’s (NBA) Presidential Award for outstanding service.

Edwards has been a member of the organization since 1984, and has served on numerous committees. She has served in the leadership role of chairwoman for the Transitional Committee (1999), Chief of Staff for the President Committee (2000), Mid-Year Meeting Coordination Committee (2001) and Constitution and By-laws Committee (2004-2006).

Edwards has also been selected as a presenter and panelist for recent workshops and seminars across the United States sponsored by both the National Bar and the American Bar Association.

The award was presented this month during the National Bar Association’s 81st Annual Convention held at the Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan.

The National Bar is the nation's oldest and largest national association of predominately African-American lawyers and judges. It has 84 affiliate chapters throughout the United States and affiliations in Canada, the United Kingdom, Africa and the Caribbean. It represents a professional network of over 20,000 lawyers, judges, educators and law students.
