FLEET TO SERVE AS INTERIM CONSERVATION COMMISSIONER
BATON ROUGE Gov. M.J. "Mike" Foster, Jr. has appointed Warren A. Fleet, general counsel for the Department of Natural resources (DNR), as the interim Commissioner of Conservation.
Since 1994, Fleet has served as a member of the DNR executive staff as chief counsel, where he supervises a staff of four attorneys. Prior to his service at DNR, Fleet was an assistant attorney general in the lands and natural resources division of the Louisiana Department of Justice.
Fleet received his law degree from Louisiana State University Law Center in 1980 and earned a bachelor of arts in sociology from Xavier University of New Orleans in 1971. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
His first priority as interim commissioner will be to work with DNR secretary Jack Caldwell to draft emergency rules necessary to institute oilfield waste testing as directed by Governor Foster.
