Thursday, April 22, 2004

Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco today announced plans to travel to Houston May 2nd and 3rd for one of the world’s foremost events for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection.

“This conference is the powerhouse among oilfield executives. I intend on making Louisiana a player, meeting with CEOs in and outside of Louisiana and from other countries,” Blanco said. “As Governor, I’m taking advantage of this incredible opportunity to meet with executives while they are gathered in one place. Louisiana will make its mark and I will work to bring jobs and investment to our state.”

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) is held annually at the Reliant Center in Houston. 85 Louisiana exhibitors including Louisiana Economic Development will showcase their companies and organizations to an expected crowd of 45,000 visitors. Nearly 2,000 exhibitors from 180 countries also participate.

The Governor will travel with Secretary Scott Angelle of the Department of Natural Resources and Secretary Don Hutchison of Louisiana Economic Development.
