KNOW-HOW SESSIONS FOR WEB USERS OFFERED BY DNR NO COST TRAINING AVAILABLE FOR SONRIS/2000

SONRIS/2000, the nationally-known information system designed by the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), will be featured in a series of training workshops coming this May. DNR officials want on-line users seeking the state’s oil and gas records and maps to know that the system is designed to meet their needs.

The oil and gas database workshops will include an overview of the three major components of the Strategic Online Natural Resources Information System orSONRIS. The sessions are planned for May 9th in Shreveport, May 16th in Lafayette, and May 23rd in New Orleans.

The workshops will concentrate on database access, document access, and GIS map access for web users looking for oil and gas records maintained by the state. Internet users will be instructed on how to make inquiries and find reports, noted DNR Information Systems Director Rizwan Ahmed. “Louisiana’s oil well profiles and the Office of Conservation’s drilling and production data are the most frequently used by our customers, ” he said. Participants in the sessions are encouraged to ask questions and practice queries with informational specialists on hand to work with them.
