LABI, DNR'S ENERGY OFFICE SCHEDULED TO VIEW PRESIDENT'S ENERGY INITIATIVE

The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) and the state Department of Natural Resource's (DNR) Energy office will participant in an interactive video conference detailing President Clinton initiatives on the use of solar and energy efficient products throughout the country. The video conference is entitled, Buildings for the 21st Century: The President's Million Solar Roofs Initiative and will be held on Wednesday, October 29 from 1:00-2:30 pm at LABI's Board Room, 3113 Valley Creek Drive.

The goal of the President's initiative is to place one million solar energy systems on the roofs of American homes, businesses, schools, and federal, state and local buildings by the year 2010. DNR Energy section Supervisor Paula Ridgeway said her staff will learn how state governments, as well as utilities, financial institutions, residential and commercial developers, builders and home owners can accelerate the use of solar power and other energy efficient technologies in buildings.

The teleconference will originate from Washington, DC and will be broadcast via satellite throughout the United States. A panel of energy experts from across the country will be featured including a message from U.S. Secretary of Energy Federico Pena.
