The State will unveil national and statewide campaign plans to raise awareness of its dramatic coastal land loss and the value of coastal Louisiana to the rest of the nation and the world, focusing on its role in the nation's energy production and economic security, as well as its world ecological significance.

The campaign is part of an effort to secure billions of Federal dollars needed to restore Louisiana's coast and to sustain its values, both economic and environmental, for future generations.

Val Marmillion, president of Pacific Visions, a firm based in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., will present the plan. A native of Houma, Louisiana, Marmillion's firm works with governmental organizations and private companies to raise public awareness and to gain support for national issues and efforts.

He was contracted in March by the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources to help design the campaign plan in response to recommendations by the Governor's Committee on the Future of Coastal Louisiana.
