Maurepas Swamp diversion project discussed by agencies

The state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the federal EPA will host a public meeting and Open House for the River Reintroduction into the Maurepas Swamp project on Wednesday, March 14th beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Both agencies will have information and materials on display and a presentation on the status of the project as it moves into the engineering and design phase. The meeting location is at 181 Regala Park Road, Reserve, La. at the River Parishes Campus of Louisiana Technical College in the Main Building Media Center.

The project design team and modelers will show how the diversion project is expected to operate, and how drainage and water flow will work. A formal 10-minute project overview presentation will be given at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 pm. Participants are encouraged to ask questions as they review the demonstrations.
