DNR Public Information Officer Cynthia Poland receives award on behalf of the department from NAGC President David Matustik.

The America’s WETLAND Campaign and Louisiana Department of Natural Resources received national acclaim this spring for its work on “spreading the word” about Louisiana’s coastal land loss issues. The America's WETLAND campaign, sponsored by the Governor’s Office has recently been honored with the Silver Anvil Award presented by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

DNR’s Office of Public Information brought home the first place award for its public affairs video, Disappearing Wetlands of Louisiana, from the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC) during the 2003 Blue Pencil/Gold Screen Awards banquet in Washington, D.C. The video highlights an environmental crisis along the Louisiana coast and the importance of restoring a valuable ecosystem. Additionally, the DNR public information director and staff received an honorable mention in the annual report category for its 2003 DNR Accomplishment Report.

NAGC is a national not-for-profit professional network of federal, state and local government employees who disseminate information within and outside government. DNR’s Cynthia Poland attended the awards ceremony in May.
