November mineral lease sale brings approximately $6.5 million
The state Mineral and Energy Board on Wednesday conducted its monthly lease sale in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge. The board collected more than $6.5 million in bonuses in the November sale, bringing the total collected for FY 10-11 to more than $18.7 million. For the calendar year, that total is more than $45 million. At this month’s lease sale, the board awarded 19 leases covering more than 2,400 acres, out of 39 nominated tracts covering more than 32,000 acres. The Board sold leases in Acadia, Allen, Bienville, Cameron, DeSoto, Lafayette Plaquemines, Red River and Terrebonne parishes. Of the 19 tracts awarded, 10 were in north Louisiana and 9 were located in the southern parishes.
