October 9-15 is Earth Science Week in Louisiana
Web Posting
Governor John Bel Edwards has issued a proclamation declaring Oct. 9-15, Earth Science Week 2016
Each year, the American Geosciences Institute organizes and dedicates a week designed to provide teachers, students and the public with a better understanding and appreciation for the Earth sciences as well as encourages good stewardship of the planet. This year’s event celebrates “Our Shared Geoheritage” which places emphasis on energy, paleontology, water quality, conservation and climate science.
The La. Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR) and the La. Geological Survey (LGS) are making available educational packets of information to teachers that highlight the ‘Geoheritage’ theme. DNR plans to provide the free resource packets during the La. Science Teachers Association’s Joint 2016 Conference, Oct. 24-26, at the River Center in Baton Rouge.
The Earth Science Week information can be viewed online at www.earthsciweek.org and the educational packets may be ordered at http://www.agiweb.org/pubs/pubdetail.html?item=609621
