October mineral lease sale brings $2.6 million for state
The Louisiana Mineral and Energy Board on Wednesday conducted its monthly lease sale in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.
The board collected more than $2.6 million in bonuses in the October sale. For the fiscal year, the total is $12 million. The state’s lease sale total for the calendar year is approximately $41.5 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the board awarded 28 leases covering more than 3,000 acres, out of 46 nominated tracts covering 26,701 acres.
The Board sold leases in Acadia, Assumption, Bossier, Caddo, Cameron, DeSoto, East Carroll, Iberia, Lafourche, LaSalle, Plaquemines, Rapides, and Sabine parishes.
Of the 28 leases awarded, 18 were in north Louisiana and 10 were located in the southern parishes.
