PSA: La. Fuel Team helps citizens in Emergency Response
Baton Rouge- With the start of Hurricane Season in June, many Louisiana citizens understand the importance of being prepared for a storm or major hurricane once it moves into the Gulf of Mexico. Planning ahead means YOU have better control of dealing with the weather outcome.
One of the best sources for planning is through the Get A Game Plan website, and the best source for information during a disaster event is the Gov. Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP)’s website, Emergency.louisiana.com
At the La. Dept. of Natural Resources, a team of business, industry and other government agencies come together in a response effort to help the public get the fuel needed during times of evacuation and other emergencies. This team, known as La. Fuel Team is composed of industry volunteers from the refinery and supplier sector, supply and terminal businesses, retail sector, and the tank truck carriers. The fuel team has a database of gasoline and diesel fueling stations in the state that is available online. Volunteer retail businesses provide current information on the availability of fuel that is especially important before during and after a storm.
Remember also Louisiana DOTD offers 511 Help for citizens to keep them informed of road problems, driving and route reports, and more.
