September mineral lease sale results in $1.1 million for state

The Louisiana Mineral and Energy Board on Wednesday conducted its monthly lease sale in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.

The board collected more than $1.1 million in bonuses in the September sale. For the fiscal year, the total is $9.4 million. The state’s lease sale total for the calendar year is $35.9 million.

At this month’s lease sale, the board awarded 21 leases covering more than 977 acres, out of 43 nominated tracts covering 46,609 acres.

The Board sold leases in Allen, Catahoula, Concordia, DeSoto, Iberia, Jefferson, Lafourche, Natchitoches, Plaquemines, Red River, Sabine, St. Landry, Terrebonne and Vermilion parishes. 

Of the 21 leases awarded, 7 were in north Louisiana and 14 were located in the southern parishes.
