Shreveport Homeowners Get Cash Back From DNR Home Energy Loan Program

Friday, February 11, 2000

Louisiana Department of Natural Resources' Energy Section officials will present checks to two local homeowners during the Home Product Show on Sunday, February 13, 2000 at the Shreveport Expo Hall. DNR Energy Program Manager Wade Byrd said the presentation will start at 2:00 p.m.

Under the state's Home Energy Loan Program HELP, new homeowners Shawn Sit and Patricia Monsour will get cash back for constructing energy efficiency homes. Byrd said the cash awards amount to $638 for Sit and $1,057 for Monsour.

HELP is designed to offer cash back payments to any Louisiana homebuilder, home buyer or homeowner who builds new homes to high levels of energy efficiency or makes energy improvements to existing homes. "The amount of payment depends on the level of energy savings which is determined by a Home Energy Rating," Byrd said.

Persons interested in the HELP program should contact DNR's Energy Section at 225-342-3842. Information and step-by-step instructions are available by calling this toll-free HELP hotline 1-800-836-9589.
