State Conservation Office to Host Pipeline Seminar in New Orleans

The state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Louisiana Gas Association (LGA) will host a two-day seminar for hazardous liquids operators and contractors at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans on August 13th and 14th.

The DNR Office of Conservation's Pipeline Safety Director Mariano Hinojosa reported today that the seminar will focus on procedures for the transport of hazardous liquids, safety standards and the compliance inspection process. He said the seminar helps operators and others stay informed and allows for open discussion of current issues.

DeWitt Burdeaux, an instructor for the Transportation Safety Institute School in Oklahoma City, will conduct the seminar. Other presenters include David Frey, Manager of LA One Call Damage Prevention; Vic Weston, owner of Tri State Boring representing Common Ground Alliance; Bruce Hansen, spokesperson for the federal Office of Pipeline Safety: Skip Brown, owner of Cycla and Sidney Reed, FBI special agent.
