State Mineral and Energy Board announces results of April/May Lease Sale
Baton Rouge- The Louisiana Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge. The May lease sale included bids originally submitted for the April 2024 lease sale, which was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Board collected $900,616 in bonus revenue for the combined April/May lease sale. The current 2023-2024 total bonus payment is approximately $8.3 million. At this month’s lease sale, there were 13 leases covering 5,269 acres sold. The leases were located in Caddo, Cameron, Catahoula, Concordia, Iberia, Desoto, Jefferson, Lafourche Plaquemines and Vermillion parishes.
The total bonus payments to the state for the previous fiscal year, 2022-2023, amounted to $8.42 million.
