State Mineral and Energy Board Holds April Meeting
Mineral Lease Sale Brings Approximately $2.2 Million
BATON ROUGE – The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.
The Board collected more than $2.2 million in bonuses in the April sale, bringing the total collected for FY 10-11 to more than $38.2 million. For the calendar year, the total is more than $16.7 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 20 leases covering more than 3,800 acres, out of 42 nominated tracts covering more than 20,000 acres.
The Board sold leases in Acadia, Avoyelles, Bienville, DeSoto, Evangeline, Lafayette, LaSalle, Plaquemines, Point Coupee, Rapides, St. Landry and St. Mary parishes. Of the 20 tracts awarded, three were in north Louisiana and 17 were located in the southern parishes.
