State Mineral and Energy Board Holds November Meeting
Mineral Lease Sale Brings Approximately $1.3 Million
BATON ROUGE – The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.The Board collected more than $1.3 million in bonuses in the November sale, making the total collected for FY 11-12 more than $11.9 million. For the calendar year, the total is more than $33.9 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 15 leases covering more than 4,500 acres, out of 35 nominated tracts covering more than 37,900 acres.
The Board sold leases in Beauregard, Bienville, Bossier, Cameron, Jefferson, Lafourche, Plaquemines and Terrebonne parishes. Of the 15 tracts awarded, 2 were in north Louisiana and 13 were located in the southern parishes.
