State Mineral and Energy Board Holds September Meeting
Mineral Lease Sale Brings Approximately $2.9 Million
Wednesday, September 14, 2011—The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.
The Board collected more than $2.9 million in bonuses in the August sale, making the total collected for FY 11-12 more than $7.8 million. For the calendar year, the total is more than $29.8 million.
At this month's lease sale, the Board awarded 38 leases covering more than 11,400 acres, out of 52 nominated tracts covering more than 28,500 acres.
The Board sold leases in Acadia, Allen, Avoyelles, Cameron, Concordia, De Soto, East Feliciana, Lafayette, Natchitoches, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Mary, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana parishes. Of the 38 tracts awarded, 2 were in north Louisiana and 36 were located in the southern parishes.
