In other board action, Marjorie McKeithen of Baton Rouge was selected to serve as the vice chairman of the Mineral Board. McKeithen also introduced a resolution to streamline the schedule for nominating tracts for leasing. The time between nominating a tract and the actual lease sale will be reduced by approximately 28 to 30 days. According to Mineral Board Secretary Gus Rodemacher, the change will take effect with the February 9, 2005 lease sale nominations, and a schedule can be found on the Mineral Board website here.
