State Mineral Lease Sale brings $2.6 million for month of January
BATON ROUGE - The La. Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday, January 14th in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.
The Board collected $2.6 million in bonus revenue for the state in the January lease sale, bringing the Fiscal Year 2014-15 total collected to $7.7 million. At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 36 leases covering 5,436 acres, out of 94 nominated tracts covering more than 114,412 acres. The leases were sold in Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Concordia, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lafourche, Livingston, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Landry, St. Mary, Terrebonne and Vermilion parishes.
In last fiscal year 2013-14, the board collected a total of $18.3 million in state revenue.
